partners and supporters of PCAE


PCAE had a diverse group of partners that enabled it to maintain a wide range of quality programs in development every year. We have seen an increase not only in number of partners, but also in the depth of various partnerships.

PCAE is grateful and appreciative of all donors and partners who provided support for its work with pastoralist communities in Ethiopia, in general and Somali Region in particular.

The following table shows PCAE partners, supporters, donors and project activities:

Women's capacity building, emergency water relief, food supplies, human drug supplies, immunization of mothers and children, advocacy and institutional capacity building training, CIDA, Oxfam Belgium,. Oxfam Ireland and Flemish Government support Oxfam Canada.

3 USAID/SCF-USA

Food security, water, human and livestock health, early warning and training through title II commodity monitazation funds from US government. Also education for mobile pastoralist children and girls groups home education.

4 WFP

Relief food supply monitoring in Liben and Afdher zones and early warning information. 

5 Islamic Relief UK

Emergency relief supplies of food, water and restocking for destitute families.

6 UNICEF

Water storage and water pumps for water tanking.

7 Pact Ethiopia

institutional capacity building through training, provision of professional man power, provision of office utilities and pastoralist advocacy work such as Ethiopian pastoralist Day. Food security program.

8 National Lottery UK/PENHA

Pastoralist health extension in Filtu that mainly focuses on health system quality improvement and an ethno-veterinary study on commonly used herbal medicine.

9 American Embassy

Grinding mill machine for Charity women, house construction and training for women.

10 CRDA

Advocacy on pastoralism and Ethiopian Pastoralist Day.

11 Federal DPPC

Provides general operational guidance and early warning information. Also provides general operational agreements.

Somali National Regional State council

Approves and supports PCAE general operation in the regi0opn, consultations on pastoral development issues and advocacy for pastoralists.

Somali national Regional State Line Bureaus

Appraise, approve, coordinate and evaluate PCAE projects in the region. Also the line bureaus provide technical assistance to PCAE whenever possible. These bureaus are DPPSLA, Water, Education, health, Women Affairs and livestock, Crops and Environmental Protection. Zonal and wereda level departments cooperate in project implementation at the local level.

Issue certificate/license for operation in the country local provision.

Livestock health, training in community awarness, community based animal health work training on dry meat processing.
