fruits/Achievements
A) Development Projects.
PCAE has launched in Liben & Afdher zones of Somali region
various pastoral development projects for the provision of water
scheme development, basic health and veterinary services, formal
and non-formal education for adults and children.
B) Relief and Rehabilitation.
Over the years, PCAE has been involved in emergency relief distribution
of food aid in Disaster Prevention & Preparedness, Early warning
and reporting to partners. In addition, it has erected the necessary
networks especially for effective and timely early warning.
C) Advocacy and Networking
While much remains to be done particularly in advocacy, PCAE
has so far succeeded in laying the foundation for a louder voice
for pastoralists in Ethiopia.
PCAE has put the corner stone and activity worked for the official
marking in 1999 of January 25th as the national pastoralist day,
where Ethiopian and neighbors pastoralist delegates, government
bodies and stakeholders have been meeting to discuss pastoralists
concerns.
PCAE is co- founder of the Pastoralist Forum for Ethiopia (PFE),
to facilitate regular exchange of information among stakeholders.
PCAE is also co- founder of Basic Education Network in Ethiopia
(BEN), to create favorable conditions for innovative approaches
of alternative basic education.
PCAE is one of the founding and active members of Horn of Africa
Pastoralist Advocacy Network (HAPAN) and member of Christian Relief & Development Association (CRDA)
